Butterscotch Cookies

Ingredients 

 

  • 4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup butter or shortening

  • 4 eggs

  • 4 tbsp. milk

  • 4 cup flour

  • 1 tbs. cream of tartar

  • 1 tbs. soda

  • 3 cups flour

 

Preparation

 

Combine sugar, butter, and eggs. Blend with mixer.  Add milk. Sift together 4 cups flour, cream of tartar, and soda.   Gradually add to sugar mixture.  Turn onto a pastry sheet and mix in remaining 3 cups of flour. Divide this into 2 parts and shape into long rolls.  Refrigerate overnight.  Slice with a sharp knife.  Bake 8-10 minutes at 350, or until lightly browned.
